Domestic servants will be covered under Employees’ Social Security Act (Act 4), Employment Insurance System (Act 800) that will be enforced starting 1 June 2021.
Domestic Servant Definition
A domestic servant is hired for household-related work in a personal residency and does not involves business-related work of the employer neither inside nor outside of the residency.

Eligibility
EMPLOYER
- Citizen of Malaysia
- Foreigners can only hires Malaysians as domestic servants.
EMPLOYEE
- Citizen / Permanent Resident / Temporary Resident.
- Foreigner with legitimate travel documents.

Registration
Registration for employers and employees can be made starting 16 June 2021.
Important Note
- Employer who has purchase Employment Injury Insurance to Domestic Servants can continue with the insurance coverage until expiry date.
- If expiry date of insurance coverage after 31 May 2022, Employer is COMPULSORY to register and contribute Socso & EIS effective 1 June 2022.
- Employee who hiring Domestic Servants start 1 July 2021 is COMPULSORY to register and contribute Socso & EIS.
